Concrete and steel structures provide numerous benefits to society; however they also present their own problems, due to their susceptibility to environmental and chemical attack, as well as other external forces. These must be effectively managed to ensure the longevity and life expectancy of the asset.

Assess

Condition assessment
With all asset maintenance works it is important to understand the nature and extent of any deterioration before the refurbishment works are planned and executed. With combined 35 years experience in the maintenance of structures and buildings we are able to provide a comprehensive inspection service for Consultants, Architects, Surveyors and asset owners.

Rehabilitate

Concrete repair

Reinstatement methods include hand application of lightweight and structural cementitious and epoxy mortars for small and cosmetic repairs, wet and dry spray techniques (gunite) and the use of repair concrete placed into formwork where more substantial or structural repair is required.

Structural strengthening
External strengthening is the bonding or anchoring of reinforcing elements such as steel plates, fiber­ reinforced plastics, and external post­ tensioning on the exterior of structural members to increase structural capacity used to provide additional resistance to bending, improve load capacity or reduce deflections when changes in use or increased loadings of a structure need to be addressed.

Grouting

The process of injecting or placing grout. Grout is a construction material used for many applications, including to embed rebar, pointing masonry walls, fill voids, and seal joints under machine bases, annular gaps around pipe inserts, voids in steel fabrications, fill redundant drains, sewers and manholes or to fill voids beneath structures.

Protect

Cathodic protection

A form of corrosion protection for reinforced concrete wherein a sacrificial metal is caused to corrode in preference to the reinforcement, thereby protecting the reinforcement from corrosion.

Fire Protection

Protection of structural steelwork provides critical time for fire fighting and personnel safety. The potentially catastrophic effects of a fire on assets could be reduced and your personnel protected. The team can now offer expert application of epoxy and thin film intumescent cellulosic passive fire protection for any material from steel to aluminium and plastics.

Linings, coatings and waterproofing

ASP has many years’ experience in the application of liquid and sheet membrane waterproofing and penetrating systems that seals, densifies, waterproofs, hardens, reduces vapour drive and preserves and protects most concrete substrate in a wide variety of environments ranging from the small elevator pits, to large structures such as flat concrete roofs, reservoir roofs, chemical storage bunds, tunnels and basements.

Seal

Leak sealing

Water loss from, or water ingress into, a wide variety of structures is a common problem. We have developed techniques for a wide variety of leak sealing requirements. These use a variety and combination of caulking compounds and injected cementitious, epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic resin grouts and penetrating nano­infused, meso­inorganic, polycarbon/polycarbonate, NuPolymer technology.

Joint repair & sealing

Movement affects all structures to varying degrees and can be caused by temperatures changes, shrinkage, settlement and loading, among others. Provision to accommodate such movement needs to be provided at expansion joints at appropriate intervals. ASP offer a wide range of mechanical and non-mechanical expansion joints for use on bridges, car parks, aqueducts, podium decks, water retaining structures, and architectural finishes.
