The Aeramix team was engaged by Richmond Shire Council to investigate, design and construct a potable water treatment plant. The raw water is supplied from the Great Artesian Basin via two bores which contain high metal concentrations of iron and manganese causing staining and notable odour.
Richmond’s new water treatment plant utilised second hand infrastructure purchased from another water utility to form the treatment process. A key challenge for the design team was developing a process that achieved the desired outcome and made maximum utilisation of existing assets.
The final product was unrivalled, winning the Ixom Best of the Best Taste Test in 2014/2015 plus the prestigious Queensland Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Excellence Awards 2015 for Projects $1Million to $5 Million Sponsored by Queensland Water Directorate.
Now the people living in Richmond can drink straight from the tap, and good water means a very positive future for Richmond
