On our final day in Europe (Friday 6th of October), we visited Empa the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology.
As part of an Australian Research Council project, Aeramix is looking forward to performing some trial CFRP installation works together with technology and project partners Empa, Simpson StrongTie (S&P), Swinburne University and of course VicRoads.
Our visit to Empa today was aimed at understanding the technology further and gaining further insight into various structural innovations in preparation for works to be undertaken on a Victorian bridge later this year. Further detail on the project will be made public in the forthcoming months.
What an impressive organization Empa is with its numerous laboratories developing and testing structural innovations lead by a highly skilled team of structural engineers, scientists and PHd students. We were privileged to be met by several of Empa’s team and Simpson StrongTie (S&P) and witnessed these innovations in the making.
A special thanks to Marko Horvat, our technical manager for facilitating an extremely worthwhile visit and of course to Empa’s team and S&P for their hospitality and for sharing these innovations with Aeramix.
We welcome the confidence being given to us and now looking forward to implementing the innovations in Australia.
